Active Support

You can also, if you choose, get more closely involved in working with the younger Sections and providing them with the same kind of opportunities you've had through Scouting.

To get involved with Scout Network please call the North Dorset enquiry line 01747 855299 and chat to informed leaders. If there only the answering machine then leave your details and someone WILL GET BACK to you. We value your call... (not like some organisations!)

Active Support

Scout Active Support is for all adults aged 18+ who wish to support Scouting, but do not have the time to help on a weekly basis at Beaver Cub and Scout Meetings. The SAS often has members who have many skills, mostly gained through their Scout training when they were leaders, which they wish to pass on as and when needed. The North Dorset Scout Active Support Unit is very new, and to date have mostly members who have retired from regular scouting weekly meetings because of age, work commitments or in need of a change. We are also encouraging others to join us who have not been leaders, but wish to support Scouting.

We are available to the District to help at events as and when needed e.g. running outdoor activities for troops in climbing, canoeing, hill walking etc; or providing help with basic scouting skills by encourage new leaders to learn through experience and practice. We hope to be able to help in promoting Scouting within the District, and also provide support for Groups when needed.

We enjoy a varied monthly social programme, based at Blandford, which will include meals together, hikes and visit to the pub. We are all full members of the Scouting Movement, wearing the District multi-coloured scarf, and royal blue sweatshirts.

The Scout Active Support Unit in North Dorset is developing slowly as we learn what is wanted and how we can help, but we are keen and enthusiastic members of the Scouting Movement, and proud to be called Scouters.
