Skills of Leadership (module 8) & Growing the Section (module 13) Do you know your own style? Learn how different styles suit different situations and how you can develop leadership skills in others, especially our young people. Take away planning tips and a knowledge of action-centred leadership. Moving On, Moving Up, first steps in retention of young people. What else and how can you encourage others to join? And don't forget the adults, how to get them involved and stay in scouting. Growing and strengthening are important, learn why and the tools you can use to support it. Time: 7:15 pm

Required by all roles with appointments subject to review every 5 years. ie. not required by SAS members (although the SAS manager and co-ordinators must do it), exec members (althought the officers Chair, Treasurer and Secretary must do it), Skills instructors, AAC members, Badge secretaries, Camp wardens and DESA This renews and updates the Safeguarding training received in module 1 when a person joins scouting. It increases your understanding of the issues and how to recognise concerns, it explains your role and responsibilities and gives practical guidance on what to do when. It is an option to do the online course but only every other refresher may be done this way. On the day Check out how to find the building and where to park. Time: 9:15 am

First Response (module 10) This module aims to cover the skills and knowledge necessary to enable adults to manage an incident and provide basic first aid. Suitable for first-timers and as your 3 year renewal. This is the minimum training all leaders and managers should have. There are other options, including recognising external qualifications. On the day Check out how to find the building and where to park. Aim to arrive 15 minutes early to give yoursefl time to register and have a drink and start to get to know everyone. Wear suitable clothing for practical sessions some of which are on the floor. Bring your lunch, hot drinks will be available. If you have limited movement, inform the instructor on arrival so you can be shown techniques to suit your ability. If you cannot physically do CPR, you can be passed assessment if you can instruct someone else to do it. You will receive a First Response book and a scout certificate will be awarded.
